This webpage is designed to help students and parents keep up with content and assignments on a weekly basis. You should expect your child to have homework Monday-Thursday every week. The class agenda will look similar to this on a daily basis:

      1.  Automaticity
      2.  Homework Check (over the previous night's homework assignment - 3 to 5 questions)
      3.  Questions from previous night's homework/Review of previous content
      4.  New lesson
      5.  Activity/Independent practice
      6.  Exit slip
Students are expected to come to class prepared every day with the materials listed on the course syllabus, as well as any homework assignments that are due. The materials needed for this class are:
      1.  Composition notebook (for homework checks only)
      2.  3-ring binder (1-1.5" thick) - to keep notes, vocabulary, and graded quizzes/tests and homework 
      3.  4 notebook dividers - to go in binder; labeled notes, vocabulary, tests/quizzes, homework
      4. Dry/Erase markers (optional) - We go through several of these when completing our daily automaticity routine. 
Material covered in the first unit:
  • Simplifying fractions
  • Computing Unit Rates
  • Identifying equivalent fractions/ratios
  • Identifying proportional relationships
  • Finding the unit rate from a graph/table
  • Solving ratio and percent problems (using proportional relationships)
  • Solving real-world problems using proportional relationships
  • Use dimensional analysis to make customary unit conversions
  • Metric units of measurement conversions
  • Percent of increase, percent of decrease, percent error
  • Sales tax, gratuities, mark-up/mark-down, commission, etc.
  • Simple interest
