Mrs. Cattell and Mrs. Webster have collaborated this week to teach 6th grade scientists about natural resources and synthetic materials. Students explored creating synthetic materials from natural materials. They used sodium alginate (seaweed) and calcium chloride (limestone), combined them to create a synthetic polymer “worm.”

Congratulations to our McKell Middle School Bulldogs of the Week! These students continue to show what it means to be a Bulldog through their hard work, leadership, kindness, and positive attitudes!
Sadie Suttles – Sadie is a great example of Bulldog Pride! She demonstrates strong character, leadership, and kindness toward others. Her positive attitude, willingness to help, and dedication to her academics make her a wonderful role model for her classmates.
Jaxon Taylor – Jaxon continues to stand out through his leadership, academic effort, and willingness to help others. His positive attitude and contributions to our school community show what it truly means to be a Bulldog!
Bryson Hampton – Bryson demonstrates Bulldog Pride both inside and outside the classroom! His dedication to academics, strong character, and positive attitude are reflected in everything he does. We are especially proud of his hard work and commitment to our Cross Country team!

6th period enrichment wrapped up the nine weeks with book projects to showcase the novels they read in their literature circles. Holes created a diorama, the Giver created a Monopoly game, Hatchet created a board game, City of Ember made a board game, and the Unteachables made a basketball game with questions from their book. The projects encouraged communication and collaboration skills, and each student helped to present their project to the class, allowing them to work on public speaking skills. This has been a great way to get kids to enjoy sharing what they read. Students are already talking about their next book based on the presentations!
Students in Mrs. Cattell’s Agriculture class have been hard at work shucking fresh sweet corn for our school cafeteria!
We love seeing our Bulldogs get hands-on learning experiences while helping out right here at McKell Middle School!
And the best part? Fresh sweet corn will be on the cafeteria menu this week!
Just another example of our Bulldogs learning, working together, and making a difference!

We’re moving in the right direction! Our attendance this week was 92.3%, bringing us a little closer to our weekly goal of 94% or higher!
Every day counts, and every student matters! Being at school gives our Bulldogs opportunities to learn, grow, build friendships, and succeed.
Thank you to our families for helping make attendance a priority. Let’s keep building on this progress and push toward that 94% goal!

Pink Out Day at MMS!!
The weather may not have cooperated with our plans today, but that didn’t stop our Bulldogs from showing their support!
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to make it onto the football field for our annual Pink Ribbon formation. However, we wanted to make sure that every student who came dressed in pink had the opportunity to be part of a special photo!
While things didn’t go exactly as planned, we are proud of our students and staff for coming together to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Sometimes plans change, but the meaning behind what we do stays the same!

Raylee is a natural leader in Agriculture class! She works hard to guide her team and takes pride in helping her classmates learn the ins and outs of agriculture. Her willingness to share her knowledge, teach others, and step up when needed makes her a wonderful example of Bulldog leadership!
7th Grade – Penny Dixon
Penny is a shining example of positivity and respect! She consistently works hard in the classroom and treats both students and staff with kindness. Whether she is in class or walking through the hallways, Penny sets a positive example for those around her. Her respectful attitude and dedication make her a Bulldog we are proud to recognize!

CJ is an outstanding student who comes to class each day prepared, attentive, and ready to learn! He takes his education seriously and goes above and beyond by helping classmates understand lessons once he has mastered them himself. His kindness, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others make him a leader among his peers. CJ also carries that same dedication into athletics, giving his best effort both on and off the field!

Today we want to give a BIG thank-you to our incredible custodial staff!
They do so much more than keep McKell Middle School clean—they work behind the scenes every day to make sure our students and staff have a safe, welcoming, and great place to learn and work.
