Happy Easter Bulldogs!

Our second round of baby chicks have hatched! We want to thank Myla Forbes and her family for adopting our baby chicks. Our next round of baby chicks we will be selling to the community!!!

On Thursday our EdRising students helped lead an Easter egg hunt for the preschool students. We have young leaders in the making for future educators!!

On Friday we had grade level assemblies to recognize our 3rd 9 weeks “A” and “A-B” Honor Roll Students. At this assembly we also recognized our students who had perfect attendance for the 3rd 9 weeks!

THE FARM @ MCKELL MIDDLE
Who would have thought the courtyard area at McKell would be a farm! Bailee Miller brought her steer to show our agriculture students. Her dad said “farm raised beef is not about the quantity but about the quality” Lookout soon for what’s next!

We had a special visitor hop into Ms. Fritz's class today! Keep an eye out in the halls you may spot the bunny hopping around!

The agriculture class completed a project called "Getting Batty About the Ecosystem". At first, students were afraid of setting out bat houses to bring more bats into our area. However, after students did a research project, they learned that having bats around is actually a good idea because they are so beneficial! They discovered that bats eat LOTS of bugs (especially mosquitos) and some bats are even pollinators; both facts are extremely beneficial to the farming community! After researching where to place them and then scouting out the school's property, students found the ideal location and hung the bat houses...and now we wait. The agriculture students are invested in making a more diverse and healthy ecosystem in our little area in Kentucky!

McKell Middle is having a family painting night when we return from Spring Break!!
This will be a great time, where Mr. Blevins will show you how to paint something spectacular! Join your student and enjoy a painting adventure!

MMS now has a family, community and military information center located in our entrance foyer.
We have plenty of helpful information, pamphlets and a blessing box offering essentials for anyone in need! There is also a iPad showing off the schools activities and upcoming events.

From taking money one day to cleaning trays the next! Mr. Thompson helps anywhere he needs to be at any time. We are ALL a team at GREENUP COUNTY!! Believe in GC!

Today in Mrs. Lynd's class, Barron Royster brought one of his WWII jackets and a Jewish prayer book to share as they prepare to read “The Diary of Anne Frank” when we return from spring break!

Andrew Meadows placed 4th this weekend during the KHSAA Region 11 boys division archery meet. Congratulations and keep it up archers!

American Legion Easter Egg Hunt!!
South Shore, KY

We want to give a HUGE shoutout to Mr. Tommy Crump! He joined the MMS team this year, and came out of retirement to do so.
Both himself and our Industrial Arts students help build our outstanding chicken coop. It even includes some old playground equipment!! We are so grateful!!

Mrs. Fraley loves our chickens so much she decided to grab a few kids and help out in the coop during her planning! Thank You Mrs. Fraley!

Passion Project Week was a huge success! Pictured here is Mr. Pack showing his love for guitar. Mr. Lowe spun some records for the kids and introduced some classics! Mr. Walker talked about golf and some traditions at the Masters. Mrs. Donini shared her love for silver back gorillas. So many more to share!! After spring break we will announce a date for a community night where students will share what they learned and their teachers passions this week.

Mrs. Donini's classes are working with a set of parallel lines with a diagonal cutting through called a transversal. They defined sets of alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, vertical angles, adjacent angles, corresponding angles. Paperless doesn't always mean technology is incorporated!

Thank You!
Shirley Williams who represents Woodmen Life Insurance, donated both a brand new American flag and a Commonwealth of Kentucky flag. The new flag has been raised and is flying with pride. MMS loves having support from our community! #communitypartners
We have now added Core Four banners in each of our hallways at MMS. These are the four areas in which students focus on each year to create folders of artifacts to have each school year. These items build up to use at the high school at to start the Great Eight.
