WILDCAT OF THE WEEK Ms. Jujuana Hieneman shares that Kennedy knew a new student was recently experiencing anxiety and immediately welcomed her. Kennedy sat with the new student during breakfast and made her feel more comfortable. Later in the day, Ms. Hieneman notes that she saw Kennedy walking with the new student, and they both were wearing smiles. Thank you, Kennedy,for jumping in and helping this new young lady have a good first day!

A BERRY GOOD DAY Students in our Hospitality and Tourism class recently returned to the extension office for another Teen Cuisine lesson with Mrs. Lora. They worked on cutting skills, preparing a Very Berry salsa. Students learned about knife safety and positioning and different types of cuts before practicing with blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and apples. They enjoyed eating their finished product with cinnamon crisps in the new farmer's market pavilion. Great work, students!

COLLEAGUE CREDIT Mrs. Bobbi Brumfield shares that, recently, she asked for donations of objects that could be recycled into art pieces for her new creative arts class. She shares, " Boy, were my colleagues ready!" She notes that, within 30-minutes, she had four boxes of different categories of recyclable objects that could be used in her class. At Wurtland Middle School, if there is a need, it will be met. Mrs. Brumfield adds, "That's how we do things here! Best people in the world!" We love our Wildcat family!

WILDCAT OF THE WEEK Mrs. Angie Shannon shares that, recently, all of a student's colored pencils fell from her locker. Jarin ran to help the student collect the pencils. A few additional pencils continued to fall, and he stayed and picked those up, too. Then, Jarin made certain that everything was in its place for the other student before making his way to class. Jarin is always helpful and often asks if people around him need help. Way to be a leader, Jarin!

UP AND MOVING Seventh-grade students have been using literacy centers to review text structures in preparation for an upcoming test. Students enjoyed new levels of engagement with SMART Board games, a round of UNO, interactive bulletin boards, pocket charts, and more. We love to see our students engaged in learning at Wurtland Middle School!
