OPENGATE METAL AND WEAPONS DETECTION SYSTEM
At Wurtland Middle School, the safety of our school community is a paramount concern. Beginning on Tuesday, we will begin utilizing a new metal and weapons detection system in an effort to further protect each student and faculty member. This system will detect vapor products and cylindrical metals, amongst a variety of other items.
OPENGATE is the groundbreaking automatic screening system designed for high-throughput security environments. With its advanced technology, OPENGATE ensures efficient and accurate detection of metallic weapons in school environments and beyond.

WILDCAT OF THE WEEK
Mrs. Bobbi Brumfield notes that Paisley is usually the first to arrive in her seventh period class. Paisley has volunteered to return all ChromeBooks to their charging stations and clean or pick-up around the classroom near the end of each day. Mrs. Brumfield adds that Paisley is also cheerful and positive each day. Mrs. Brumfield appreciates her willingness to be a helpful student and to keep a positive outlook.

Mr. Nick Yancey notes that Cooper displays a unique love of social studies. Mr. Yancey notes that Cooper volunteers to help in class all of the time, even creating questions to put in a social studies game for his class.

Our EdRising students are back to work, designing and creating bulletin boards throughout our school. Their frog bulletin board is an interactive sticker art bulletin board. We can't wait to see it finished, so make sure to add contributions when you pass it in the stairwell.

Big Smiles is scheduled to be at Wurtland Middle School on April 21 to see Wurtland Elementary School and Wurtland Middle School students.

WURTLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL FAMILY - SCHOOL RELATIONSHIPS SURVEY
This survey will be used by Wurtland Middle School to gather feedback for a variety of purposes. Our educators may use the survey to determine strengths and areas for improvements on our annual needs assessment. We will work to examine results across different groups of parents to see how different populations view our school. Fundamentally, the survey is designed to give our educators the data we need to build more effective partnerships between Wurtland Middle School and families.

GETTING GREENHOUSE READY
Students in Mr. Haywood's agriculture class have been very busy! Recently, students have been planting various flowers that will soon be transferred to the greenhouse. We can't wait to see those beautiful blooms!
MEN OF TOMORROW Men of Tomorrow completed a light fixture workshop today. Students wired a simple fixture to a mock junction box. Students then had to secure hot and neutral wires, along with ground wiring. This exposed students to basic home electricity, also exploring potential technical careers. Students demonstrated mastery of the skill, all having very limited knowledge prior to the workshop. We are proud of these Wildcats!
AGRICULTURE EDUCATION WEEK CONTINUES
Students in Mr. Haywood's agriculture class are ready to SHOW WHAT THEY KNOW! Students crafted a tri-fold board focused on the importance of the Wurtland Middle School agriculture program. Students are excited to share this project at this week's AgSplosion event!

WURTLAND WILDCATS HAVE HEART!
Beginning this week, Wurtland Middle School will be participating in the American Heart Challenge. For the next two weeks, our students will be raising awareness and learning about the importance of heart health, mental health and hands-only CPR. Students will also have the opportunity to raise donations and help save lives while earning appreciation gifts from the American Heart Association for their hard work and support.
