Good morning!
At about 10:20 a.m. this morning, school administration received a report that a visitor was trying to get in side doors at our building. Out of an abundance of caution, school administration implemented a lockout until the visitor could be identified. Officer Elliott Gollihue cleared the campus and school operations resumed as normal.
Thank you for your understanding.

IT'S TIME FOR THE BOOK FAIR!

The staff at WMS staff is thankful that you have chosen to partner with us in the education of your child. We value your partnership and invite you to provide your thoughts on this survey to help us provide the best services for your child: https://forms.gle/crnzBFfVDK6p4N5G6

At Wurtland Middle School, we know that each of you want the absolute best for each of your children. You want your children to succeed in each and every area of life, and we do, too! Wurtland Middle School values your thoughts, ideas, and goals, and we want to help and support both you and the dreams you have for each of your children in any way possible.
As a parent, what are your hopes and dreams for your children? What do you hope they achieve? Please use the back of this piece of paper to write a letter to your child. Describe and explain what your expectations are for each of them. These family letters will encourage students to achieve their goals here at Wurtland Middle School and will be used at multiple points throughout your son and/or daughter’s education at Wurtland Middle School. You may write this letter in any language.
Send this letter back to Wurtland Middle School with your child and submit it to the main office. With great communication between parents and teachers, our Wurtland Middle School family will be stronger than ever.
If it is not possible for you to send back a hard copy of this letter, you may, as an alternate form of submission, complete this Google Form: https://forms.gle/CfLkK5gcSFiNrums8
Please reach out to us with any questions. Thank you for your participation!

ROOM TO GROW
Our agriculture and hydroponics laboratory needed a work table, and our industrial arts students stepped up to the challenge. We never have our PHYLL of growing at WMS! (See what we did there?!) 😜

A WARM WELCOME
When our industrial arts students heard that our new school resource officer, Officer Gollihue, needed a bookcase for his office, they were more than happy to put one together for him!

HOSPITALITY and TOURISM

WE ARE FAMILY
When we say we're family at Wurtland Middle School, we mean it! Today, Mr. Hall's students are taking a test. His wife, Sarah, made origami stars filled with inspirational messages. Every student received one today before his or her test. Thank you, Sarah!

LETTUCE CONTINUE TO GROW
WOW. Last week, we shared the beginnings of some lettuce growing in our new grow tower that is stationed in our agriculture lab. Look at the progress after only a few days. Also, do you spy that basil?
AT WMS, WE GROW TOWARD SUCCESS EVERY DAY!

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY
October 10 is World Mental Health Day. Our faculty, staff, and students had a wonderful and fun-filled day. Students participated in three sessions. We owe special thanks to each of our district and community partners: Amy Crum, Chelsea DeLong, Pathways, ReGroup, Appalachian Folkology, and the KYOWA Writers Group. We also owe a special note of thanks to Mrs. Shannon's and Mr. Gwinn's puppies!
IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A WILDCAT!
