CREATIVE WRITING TAKES ON POETRY Students in Mrs. Brumfield's Creative Writing class have exercised their creativity in the poetry genre. They studied and composed poems in five different forms including reversal, blackout, dice, acrostic, and "Where I'm From" poetry. Wow!

A GENEROUS CHRISTMAS DONATION We would like to thank our friends of the Riverview Homemakers Club who stopped by today with a very generous donation! These funds will benefit our students throughout the holiday season! Thank you, friends of Wurtland Middle School!

LEARNING SOME NEW HABIT(ats) Mrs. Rebecca Spencer recently spent the week with Mr. Bowling's Industrial Arts students. Students spent time learning about Habitat for Humanity, crafted Habitat-inspired ornaments, and were visited by the organization's CEO, David Michael. The fourth annual wall build will be here in just a few short months, and we are excited!

A BOUNTIFUL HARVEST Wurtland Elementary School students recently visited Wurtland Middle School's agriculture classes. Together, the students harvested lettuce and basil in bountiful supplies. The lettuce was donated to Greenup County Meals on Wheels and was used for a recent delivery of taco salads. Our Wildcats are working hard each day to make impacts in the community!

WILDCAT OF THE WEEK Mr. Scott Bowling shares that Greyson has been working very hard in science class. He is doing a fantastic job! We are very proud of you, Greyson!

WRITER OF THE WEEK Mrs. Bobbi Brumfield shares that Rachael always brings a smiling face and positive attitude to Creative Writing class. She works diligently on her assignments and has grown quite a bit as a writer. Rachael is doing things WRITE at Wurtland Middle School!

COLLEAGUE CREDIT Ms. Jujuana Hieneman shares that, with the recent storms, the school's flagpole and flag were damaged. Mrs. Barb Tussey worked diligently to get a new flag and the parts to repair the pole purchased. She coordinated purchasing the correct parts, the repairs, and the delivery of the specialized equipment needed to complete the work. Barb persisted to make this happen before Veterans Day! When driving by Wurtland Middle School, make sure to look at how nice the new flag looks as it proudly displays the red, white, and blue. Thank you, Mrs. Barb!

THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE We would like to thank everyone who contributed to our annual Thanksgiving food drive. This is only a snapshot of the donated items, and we are so appreciative of the generosity of our students and community members. These donations will serve many families. Congratulations to Mrs. Shannon's class! With the highest number of donated items, they will be treated to a doughnut party! 🍩

WURTLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL THANKFULS: AMELIA WESTFALL Amelia shares that she is THANKFUL for Mrs. Carla Moore. Amelia notes that she always makes sure that the school is clean, and she always greets her with a smile each morning. Amelia adds that she knows she can go to Mrs. Carla if she ever has a problem. COLLEAGUE CREDIT Mrs. Rebecca Spencer shares that our cafeteria staff is deserving of this week's Colleague Credit! These ladies worked tirelessly to cook and serve an amazing Thanksgiving holiday meal. They take pride in their work and present it with kindness. They filled plates and hearts with love! CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION STUDENTS OF THE WEEK Mrs. Alex Young shares that she is so proud of the students who recently represented Wurtland Middle School at the West Virginia Makes Festival. From selling products to capturing the day through multiple media platforms, our students showed their Wildcat Pride! Great work, Addison Daniels, Olivia Lucas, Madelyn Johnson, Rylan Troxler, Taylor Phillips, Layla Moore, and Mason Porter!

WURTLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL THANKFULS: TUCKER MELVIN Tucker shares that he is thankful for Mr. Isaac Sherman. Tucker notes, "I am thankful for Mr. Sherman because he is always nice to everyone. I like when he puts on music in physical education because he plays music that I like." We are glad that Tucker has someone like Mr. Sherman to keep learning fun and interesting! THE BRACKET IS READY... Stay close to our social media accounts after the Thanksgiving holiday! It's almost time for our annual door decorating tournament. Classes will be competing for a special reward, and a new round of voting will occur each day. We can't wait to invite you to join our fun!

WILDCAT OF THE WEEK Mr. Scott Bowling shares that William has done a great job as a shop manager this year! He has helped students learn how to properly use tools and helped them to complete many of their first projects of the year. Great job, William! Keep building!
